**This is an instructional program designed for absolute beginners.  There are set lessons with volunteer lead instructors. This is not an open house or open hack night.  It is disruptive to attend if you are not a “learner” or a “leader.”  If you wish to be a mentor or want to lead a session, you must email beth.ritter-guth@ucc.edu.  We welcome all talented female programmers to volunteer in this capacity.***

The WCC encourages adult women to learn the basics of programming.  You must be at least 18 to attend and should bring a laptop.

All participants must agree to promote and foster a nurturing learning environment free of competition.  While competition works well for many, research on gender learning styles suggests that women most benefit from non-competitive learning environments.  Those who attend to “show off” their programming prowess without a defined teacher/mentor role will be asked to move to another part of the lab or to return on an open hack night (Thursdays, 7:30 PM or Sundays, 1:30 PM).
